Construction
Policy
Bringing
Telephone Service
to Your Site
One of the
questions a land buyer in this area will ask is, "How
do I obtain telephone service at this site?" We recommend that
purchasers contact Northern Arkansas Telephone Company to inquire
whether extension of service will be available at no charge or if
a charge will be required for constructing new facilities to a site.
Northern Arkansas
Telephone Company, Inc., of Flippin provides telephone services
in a 658 square-mile service area under regulations of
the Arkansas Public Service Commission, which has approved our
policies and charges for extension of services.
Our Customer
Service Office begins the process when you first contact us.
Provided we can extend the service, we will respond within 30
days, or we will notify the purchaser/owner that more time is
needed
and the reason for the delay.
Charges
There will
be no charge to the applicant if the construction is within 2/10
of a mile of present facilities.
Charges which
apply are payable in advance or in 12 equal monthly payments.
| Less
than 2/10 mile of construction |
More
than 2/10 mile
of construction
(or fraction thereof) |
| No
Charge |
$530
per 1/10 mile |
NATCO will
make a reasonable effort to identify and notify others in the
general area of a proposed extension of service to see if
they wish to participate in the extension. They would also be required
to sign an Extension of Service Agreement before construction
begins,
including information about costs involved.
Construction
charges applicable to two or more applicants will be computed
individually from the starting point of the new construction
project to each respective location, less the allowance.
New construction
charges are applicable to all new individuals added to the construction
project for a two-year period following the
construction.
Facility extensions
are and remain the property of the telephone company.
Extension of Service
Agreement
You may receive
an Extension of Service Agreement if we can provide service and
if there is a cost to you.
The Extension
of Service Agreement outlines our engineering study concerning
extending service to the location, construction time
needed, explanation of costs involved, and terms of payment and/or
customer reimbursement.
The cost will
be based on the most affordable route from our nearest point
of connection to the point of delivery at your location, as
long as the route meets sound engineering design considerations.
You will be
asked to pay only for facilities of the size necessary to provide
service for you.
Wire Now For All
Your Needs
It's easy to
experience state-of-the-art phone and computer services in NATCO
territory. Now, as you plan your building, is the best
time to wire for modern phone/computer services, so lines can be
run inside the walls.
NOTE: Since
some devices require specific interface equipment, owners will
need to contact NATCO for case-by-case requirements on wiring
and connections. We recommend a minimum of 4 pair cable for new
phone construction.
WARNING
Don't go digging into trouble!
Before
you do any extensive digging or construction on your property or
public lands, call 1-800-482-8998. Sometimes, private home owners
and construction crews unintentionally cause costly damages for
which they are responsible. To avoid such expenses or fines, call
1-800-482-8998.
