NATCO Project to Bring More Bandwidth, Higher Speeds
NATCO has recently trained staff members in order to offer high
speed Internet services at increased speeds, Steven G. Sanders,
NATCO vice president and plant manager, said. Network Services
Supervisor Travis Sullivan, Bill Hunt, and Kirby Davis, network
services technicians, have been trained to use Occam Networks technology
for a project to improve high speed Internet service as well as
other telecommunications/data services.
The new system uses Ethernet and Internet Protocol to provide
everything from a basic telephone line to high speed Internet and
video services to the home, Sullivan said.
This installation will take about three months, Sullivan said,
and will be accomplished customer-by-customer in the NATCO service
area in Marion County and Boone County. Individual customers will
see the improvements in service as soon as their cutover to the
new system is done, Hunt said.
NATCO will ultimately be able to increase high
speed Internet services and provide a larger conduit to the Internet
backbone. Overall, a customer’s service will also become
more reliable, Davis added, and NATCO will be able to initiate
new services quicker in the future.
Sanders said the technology from Occam Networks
will fulfill customer needs. With the new network loop carrier
system, NATCO can take fiber optic cable to each customer’s
premise.
“Although we are a small, independent telecom provider,
we are committed to rapidly upgrading our networks,” Sanders
stressed. Here, as is the case across the nation, consumers and
businesses want more bandwidth for social and business networking,
video, and other content. |
