Audubon Adventures Grant Awarded

A South Shore Foundation grant of $2,852 to the Audubon Society of North Central Arkansas will finance the "Audubon Adventures" kits in Bergman, Flippin, Lead Hill, Yellville-Summit, Omaha, and Bruno-Pyatt schools. More than 2,100 students from third to sixth grade will receive the kits.

"Audubon Adventures is a tool to teach children the importance of taking care of our environment and all of nature within it," stated Marg Bangert, project chairman for the Audubon Society of North Central Arkansas.

The classroom kits present basic, scientifically accurate facts about birds, wildlife, and their habitats.

ASU-MH Receives South Shore Foundation Grant

The South Shore Foundation recently awarded Arkansas State University Mountain Home a $10,000 grant to help fund the state-of-the-art Vada Sheid Community Development Center (VSCDC) on the ASU-MH campus.

The VSCDC features a fully-equipped stage and auditorium for community use for conferences, concerts, exhibits and events. "The South Shore Foundation feels the facility greatly enhances the economy of north central Arkansas and improves the lifestyle of the citizens of this region. We are proud to continue to support the center," said Deanna Sullivan, South Shore Trustee.
