Two
from NATCO Attend Broadband Technology Seminar
Resident Engineer
Douglas Smith and Outside Plant Supervisor David Carson from
NATCO attended a seminar entitled Emerging Broadband Delivery
Solutions and Technologies, held recently at Branson, Mo.
According to
Smith, the seminar was a chance to learn more about the latest
products that provide a broadband connection to customers for
high speed Internet and video. NATCO has dozens of Fiber to the
Node placements of fiber optic cable and is planning to deploy
more, with the FTTN equipment acting as a central office in a
remote location, Smith said.
The newest
products involve placing fiber cable from the central office
all the way to a customer’s house. This type of project – Fiber
to the Premises - is now underway in a new subdivision in Marion
County, with the advantage of offering a very large broadband
connection for the customer, Smith said.
“We are
looking at other areas where this might be a viable option for
providing service,” the engineer said.
Sponsors of
the seminar at Branson included Windstream Supply, ADC, ADTRAN,
JDSU, Sumitomo, and Finley Engineering.
